From the time she was a little girl and her grandmother used to tell her tales of the friendly “monster in the backyard”, who lived under an ancient pine tree, Paula Kalamaras wanted to be a writer. In 1993, after leaving a stuffy job, Paula became a freelance writer. For years she wrote short stories, novels, genre fiction and essays and non-fiction. Along with Paul Kraly, she started Scribes Unlimited, LLC, writing grants, technical manuals, reports, business plans, and articles, editing books, and doing research. She had her first novel “Exiles of Dal Ryeas” published in 2010, and received rave reviews. Currently, her newest novel “Shadows in Light: Book One of the Hidden Rims” is in the hands of her agent for publication.
Paula continues to aspire to have more best-selling novels, writing screenplays, and producing her own works. She loves reading, writing, swimming, horseback riding, seeing films and plays, and cooking. She loves police procedurals like the fictional “CSI” and “Criminal Minds”, and the fact-based “The First 48” on A&E, and “Snapped” and “Cold Justice” on Oxygen. Her favorite expression, which comes from the late great Will Rogers, is: “in order to succeed you must know what you are doing, like what you are doing and believe in what you are doing” And she does.
